Hunter Valley Operations (HVO) is a large-scale open cut operation that produces some of the highest quality thermal and semi-soft metallurgical coal in the world.
It is a joint venture between Yancoal (51%) and Glencore (49%) which is independently managed on behalf of the JV partners.

Location
The mine is located at Lemington, 24 kilometres north-west of Singleton in New South Wales’ Upper Hunter Valley.
HVO operates under two planning approvals, HVO North and HVO South mining areas, geographically divided by the Hunter River.

Continuation project
The HVO Continuation Project aims to recover further coal resources within the existing mining tenements at HVO, extending the life of mine from 2025 to 2050 at HVO North and from 2030 to 2045 at HVO South.
