WARNING: 1080 WILD DOG AND FOX BAITING OCTOBER 20 to NOVEMBER 21
HVO’s Vertebrate Pest Management Program will be in operation from Monday 20 October to Friday 21 November 2025.
Feral dogs and foxes will be targeted using sodium monofluoroacetate (1080) ground baits, including meat and ejector baits.
Where baiting will occur
- HVO site and surrounding buffer lands between the Golden Highway and New England Highway between Warkworth, Liddell and Bayswater power stations.
- Maison Dieu on Knodlers Lane.
- HVO Biodiversity Offset Areas (BOA) – Belford adjoining Pothana Lane, Mitchelhill in the Muscle Creek area, Condon View within the Putty district, and Goulburn River on Comiala Road, Cassilis.
Who will conduct the baiting
- Baits placed on the HVO site and surrounding buffer lands will be conducted by Hunter Land Management.
- Baits placed on BOA will be conducted by Rural and Environmental Management.
How baiting will be conducted
- Baits will be placed on the HVO site, surrounding buffer lands and local BOA.
- Operations will comply with legal requirements under the Pesticides Act 1999.
Important safety advice for residents
- 1080 is toxic to a wide range of species and may affect domestic animals.
- Neighbours are warned not to take domestic pets and working dogs into the HVO site, surrounding buffer or offset lands during the baiting program.
- To avoid accidental poisoning, restrain or keep pets at home so they cannot enter baiting locations.
- If accidental poisoning is suspected, seek immediate veterinary assistance.
