HVO’s own Anthony Ventra is trading his steel caps for hiking boots this August, taking part in the Heysen Flinders Ranges Challenge to raise funds for the Mark Hughes Foundation (MHF) in the South Australian outback.
Anthony, who works as a Business Improvement Superintendent at HVO, will trek across the Flinders Ranges over six days, covering challenging terrain in support of brain cancer research and patient care.
Marking his 40th birthday this year, Anthony said the trek was both a personal milestone and an opportunity to give back.
“Turning 40 felt like the perfect time to challenge myself and do something meaningful. This is about pushing my limits while raising funds for an important cause,” he said.
Throughout his career, Anthony has witnessed the incredible impact of the MHF’s work firsthand, from funding critical research to raising awareness through their much-loved annual beanie campaign.
“The Foundation has been a familiar presence across many sites I’ve worked on. It’s a cause that’s close to the hearts of so many,” he added.
Since 2016, MHF’s adventure treks have raised more than $3.5 million to support patients and families impacted by brain cancer.
