Who will win take out the honours at the upcoming 2023 Singleton Business Awards?

The annual awards recognise organisations and celebrate individuals who have achieved excellence in the Singleton business community throughout the past 12 months.

Hunter Valley Operations (HVO) is an ongoing supporter of the awards. The organiser of the awards, Business Singleton, has honoured local businesses through the awards for 32 years.

This year, HVO is sponsoring the new Excellence in Agriculture Award. Last year it sponsored the Excellence in Retail Award which was won by Meyn Street Meats.

HVO General Manager Dave Foster said it is great to be sponsoring a new award for another important business sector in our community. He said HVO has good partnerships with local agricultural businesses. It leases around 6,000ha of buffer and rehabilitated mining land to seven agriculture businesses for dairy, cattle grazing or pasture.

“We’ve got about 2,000 head of cattle on our land. Proof that mining and agriculture can co-exist for mutual benefit,” Dave said.

“At HVO we try and get behind people and organisations that make a difference to the community and the lives of local people,” he said.

“The Singleton business sector, including the agricultural sector, contributes significantly to the economic and social wellbeing of the community.”

“HVO supports local businesses wherever possible and make a significant contribution to the local, regional and national economy. In fact, HVO’s direct economic contribution in 2022 was $1.5 billion.”

This year’s awards are set to be the biggest and best yet. From 228 entries, judges have determined 48 business and individual finalists across 19 award categories. The categories include four new awards to recognise excellence in agriculture, diversity and inclusion, manufacturing and sustainability.
